Date Released - 19/12/2023

Tameside Council’s Adult Social Care Services are hosting a Recruitment Roadshow for Support Workers, with the possibility of being offered an interview taking place the same week.

Support Workers help people to succeed and achieve their personal goals by building relationships with the people they support. In this role, you will need to work creatively to help people to live well, promoting independence, choice, and resilience.

Those interested in becoming a Support Worker are encouraged to attend one of three sessions on Tuesday 16 January at Hyde Town Hall, SK14 1AL:

To register interest please contact the team on 0161 342 3455.

During the sessions a presentation will explore the roles on offer and the service in detail, with the opportunity for discussions, scenarios, and exercises. There’s also the chance to chat with the team and find out first-hand about what it is like to work in Tameside.

Routes for career progression will be outlined including how you can progress to a Senior Support Worker, Patch Co-ordinator, Assessor, management roles and how you can qualify as a Social Worker.

Following the sessions, successful candidates will be offered an interview to be held on Thursday 18 January.

Executive Member for Adult Social Care, Councillor John Taylor said: ‘’If you’re a caring, observant, and creative person aspiring to support people to live as independently as possible, come along to a session and explore our current Support Worker vacancies.

‘’Start your rewarding career in Adult Social Care, with opportunities to progress into varied and exciting roles.’’

Please note that we do not sponsor employment, DBS checks will be part of the recruitment process and gaps in employment will be clarified and discussed. This role will also involve some lone working.  In addition to carry out this role you must have the physical ability to support people who may have challenging behaviour. Some roles may require a car and driving licence.
